DVD Companion Class - $60
This DVD and book provides comprehensive information on the labor process including pain medications, epidurals, and relaxation techniques. This format allows you to easily review material of particular importance to you and to learn at your own pace. A 3 1/2 hour class is also included in which we will help prepare you and your support person with techniques to assist during the labor process, and answer questions about the DVD along with demonstrations as needed. A tour of the OB unit will be provided if patient rooms are not occupied.
Childbirth Preparation - $50
This class is designed to help you and your partner prepare for labor and birth and learn about caring for yourself following delivery. This class includes information on what to expect, choices for childbirth, relaxation and breathing techniques, other coping skills and cesarean birth information.Basics Of Baby Care - $40
Learn what to expect of your baby from birth through the early weeks. This class is designed for expectant parents and is devoted to the care of your newborn. A wide variety of topics are discussed including: choosing a doctor, normal newborn characteristics, newborn behavior, when to call your healthcare provider, feeding and comforting, bathing, diapering, baby safety topics, and much more. Experienced registered nurses from Gundersen Lutheran Newborn Nursery present this class, and featured guest speakers include a firefighter discussing fire safety in the home and a presentation from a car seat safety expert which incorporates hands-on demonstration.Preparation For Breastfeeding - $20
Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants will teach you the benefits of breastfeeding, how to breastfeed, beginning breastfeeding in the hospital, using breast pumps, going back to work, and nutrition during breastfeeding. Whether or not you decide to breastfeed, this course will help you make a more informed decision.Through A Child’s Eyes - $15
This class is designed to prepare your child(ren) to welcome a new baby into the family. This class focuses on your child's feelings on the upcoming arrival of their new brother or sister and includes a tour of the New Life Family Center. This class is recommended for ages 3 to 8 years old. If your child plans on attending the birth, please call 775-6878 to set up a 1 - on - 1 session with the instructor. Your Pet & Your New Baby - $20
Your pet may experience behavior changes when you bring your new baby home. We’ll discuss those changes along with general health concerns. This is an excellent class for any pet owner expecting a new baby. Waterbirth - No Charge
Begin the journey of learning about the newest form of gentle delivery, which honors the spiritual and emotional aspects of birth and incorporates the use of water in obstetrics. This class is recommended for anyone considering a waterbirth. Happiest Baby on the Block - $35
Gundersen Lutheran’s Happiest Baby on the Block certified instructors provide hands-on training to help parents soothe crying babies by activating the calming reflex as detailed in the best-selling book by Dr. Harvey Karp. Learn what colic really is and how to help babies sleep an extra one to two hours a night. This class includes your choice of the Happiest Baby on the Block VHS or DVD and soothing sounds CD.Baby Signing - $20
This class will help you and your partner understand the impact you’ll have on the learning and emotional well-being of your child. Discover the importance of baby sign language and learn how to use sign language with your baby.Massage For Infants - $20
Regular gentle massage helps form stronger attachments and develop a healthier brain. During this class, you will learn how to increase circulation, increase blood flow through the muscles and calm your infant with therapeutic massage. It’s designed for infants 3 weeks old to those just beginning to crawl.Parenting Expedition - No Charge
New parents and their infants are invited to our Parenting Expedition, a group that meets every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the New Life Family Center Patient Education Room to discuss common parenting concerns. There is no charge to attend. Just show up and share your common experiences with other new parents.Winning Weighs After Baby - $250
