Housing
There are 40 town houses located on the immediate hospital grounds reserved for residents; however, on campus housing is optional. These apartments rent for $545.00 per month. Included in this cost are all utility bills (heat, electricity, water, and local telephone service). Additionally, this cost includes basic cable and high-speed internet access. The apartments can be totally furnished, semi-furnished or unfurnished. Each apartment has a living room, dining room, kitchen, and laundry area with individual washers and dryers downstairs, and two bedrooms, bathroom and study/den upstairs. All are individually heated and air-conditioned. Garden space is also available. No pets are allowed in the housing complex. Learn more about resident housing.

Healthcare Insurance
Each resident has two options to choose from under the Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan. The monthly premium cost for either option you choose are 100% paid by the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation. The PPO plan has out-of-network coverage. The in-network deductible is $450 per person, per year. Once you have met the annual deductible, you are then responsible for paying a 10% co-insurance.

The HMO plan offering has the same in-network providers as the PPO plan. The HMO plan has no out-of-network coverage; however, emergent or urgent care outside of the network area is covered. After meeting the $150 per person, per year deductible, you are then responsible for paying a 15% co-insurance

There is a small co-payment for prescription medications. Generic prescription medications are subject to a $5.00 co-payment, prescription medications listed on the Formulary are subject to a $20.00 co-payment, and non-formulary prescription medications are subject to a $40.00 co-payment. This co-payment structure applies to both the PPO and the HMO plan.

Health insurance coverage is effective the date of your hire (July 1).

Dental Insurance
You may either elect or waive coverage under the dental plan. Single or family coverage is available. You are responsible for a portion of the monthly premium cost. Coverage is effective on your date of hire.

Employee Discounts
Each resident, spouse, and any dependent children under the age of 18 receive a 20% discount on all non-insurance covered services at Gundersen Lutheran.

Some examples of services to which this discount would apply include refractive eye surgery, optometry services, such as eye wear, including prescription eyeglasses and contacts, infertility treatment, cosmetic surgery, hearing aid, and dentures. (Please note that this is not an all inclusive and you should check with the Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan for specific coverage details.)

Reimbursement Plans
You are eligible to enroll in the Medical Expense or Dependent Daycare Reimbursement Plans. The Reimbursement Plans allow you to pay for expenses not covered by your health or dental insurance as well as dependent daycare costs that you may incur all on a pre-tax basis. You are eligible to enroll in these plans as of July 1. Subsequent elections are made on an annual basis. Any new elections would then be made by January 1 of each year.
