Birth is a very special occasion and the New Life Family Center creates a special environment for the joyous celebration of new life. From the individual attention of caring staff to attractive, comfortable surroundings, each birth brings with it a time to cherish, a time to share, a time to remember.
Nearly 1,600 babies are born each year at Gundersen Lutheran. We have a deep commitment to providing
family centered care and a rich history of high quality obstetrical services. Our
physicians and
midwives welcome you as you plan and prepare for your new baby.
During your pregnancy, you will be asked what type of physician you want to care for your baby – a
pediatrician or a
family practice physician.

We provide a full range of support services
for our 19-county referral area to ensure that you get the care you need when you need it. Our providers include a board certified perinatologist for high-risk obstetrical care and neonatologists for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Other services include Adolescent Services, Genetic Counseling, Teratogen Information Service, Fertility, Prenatal Care Coordination, Lactation, Domestic Abuse Support and RTS Bereavement Support.
Unique to our area is that since 1975 certified nurse midwives have been working in partnership with families to provide care. They have been instrumental in designing our
Birth Center room and developing alternatives to traditional prenatal care, such as our
Water Birth program.
Our six
labor, delivery & recovery suites are specially designed rooms tastefully decorated for a home-like appearance. These rooms feature state of the art equipment to meet the needs of mother and baby.
