Since its beginnings in the minds of a handful of visionaries many years ago to the reality of today, Gundersen Lutheran has grown through the generosity of its loyal community.
Whether high-touch or high-tech care, philanthropy helps keep Gundersen Lutheran on the leading edge as a regional medical center. Therefore, every contribution to the Foundation is important.

We are committed to promoting health, and in 2004, thanks to the generous support of many caring people, the Foundation has invested over $10 million toward enhancing the healthcare that the people of the Gundersen Lutheran service area receive.
It’s an investment in education that attracts top-quality physicians, dentists and other healthcare professionals to the La Crosse area and provides them a setting where their skills and knowledge are constantly challenged. It’s an investment that brings skilled graduate physicians and other health care professionals to serve the medical needs of people in the Upper Midwest.
It’s an investment in research that develops new knowledge and procedures that enhance patient care, first in the La Crosse area, then wherever the results of this research are read.
It’s an investment that yields a human dividend, providing support for health outreach programs on disease prevention, wellness and other patient education programs, in addition to ongoing support to Gundersen Lutheran programs and services that are deemed important to the continued excellence in healthcare delivery.
Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation is an independent, nonprofit, tax-exempt organization. Our mission is to enhance and support quality health care with an emphasis on medical education and health/wellness education, as well as clinically-based research and community health outreach.
