Cancer Center Referring Provider Information

Every year, thousands of patients turn to Gundersen Lutheran for screening, diagnosis and cancer treatment. We offer comprehensive care for the whole patient - and the whole family. More than simply treat disease, we help patients and families meet emotional, spiritual, interpersonal and financial challenges commonly associated with cancer. With compassion and skill in the latest medical advances, we strive to provide the highest standard of care close to patients' homes. Throughout diagnosis and treatment, we make every effort to integrate our practice with yours. While patients will need periodic monitoring in La Crosse after cancer treatment, their routine medical care can and should be managed by you, just as it was before cancer was diagnosed. By working together, we can give your patients the best, most consistent care possible for the rest of their lives.

Gundersen Lutheran serves 19 counties in western Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa. When a patient is referred to La Crosse for a confirming diagnosis, most of the workup and treatment planning occur at the main clinic and East Building. However, through Gundersen Lutheran's outreach programs, our cancer specialists collaborate with primary care providers to care for patients during treatment. We also work closely with regional nurses who administer chemotherapy at sites closer to patients' homes, usually at local hospitals where side effects can be monitored and safely managed.
