Over the course of more than 800 surgeries, Gundersen Lutheran’s Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery Clinic has been committed to providing high-quality patient care. Our success in living up to this commitment is evident by being named a Level 1a Accredited Bariatric Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN).
To achieve this accreditation, Gundersen Lutheran underwent a thorough, independent site review. We met specific criteria that ensure we provide the support and resources necessary to address the entire spectrum of care for bariatric surgery patients.
Bariatric surgery has proven to be an effective means of achieving significant and sustained weight loss, but it is not without risks. It is important for patients to have a way to identify facilities, like Gundersen Lutheran, that provide optimal surgical care and outcomes. ACS BSCN accreditation should be an 
important factor as patients research their options.
Gundersen Lutheran is the only bariatric surgery program in the Tri-state Region with the Level 1a Bariatric Center designation, as well as being a Center of Excellence as designated by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). The ASMBS Center of Excellence program recognizes bariatric surgery centers that perform well and help surgeons and hospitals continue to improve the quality and safety of care provided.
