Sports medicine physicians (MD) are board certified in orthopaedic surgery or family medicine and are fellowship trained in sports medicine. They conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat injuries/illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform procedures including injections, write prescriptions and perform surgical interventions on shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle joints.
Physician assistants (PA or PA-C) are licensed by the state to practice medicine under physician supervision. Working closely with their supervising physician, they evaluate patients in the Clinic, order and interpret diagnostic tests, conduct physical exams, complete preoperative physicals, diagnose and treat injuries/illnesses, perform procedures, write prescriptions and assist in surgery.
Registered nurses (RN) are licensed to deliver nursing care under the direction of a physician or physician assistant. They assist in the Clinic with patient management, help with surgery scheduling, provide patient education with preoperative and post-operative instructions, assess patient problems and needs in regards to their injury or illness and provide phone triage to answer patient questions.
Medical assistants (MA) work under the supervision of a physician, physician assistant and/or registered nurse to help with patients. They collect and organize patient information, assist with minor procedures, perform casting and bracing, perform post-operative incision care and assist with other duties for patient care.
X-ray technologists (RTR) are nationally licensed professionals through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. They work closely with physicians and physician assistants to provide high quality imaging studies to help aid in medical diagnosis and guide treatment.
Sports medicine physical therapists (PT, SCS, OCS, LAT, CSCS)
are licensed through the state and are dual credentialed as board certified sports or orthopaedic clinical specialists, certified athletic trainers and/or certified strength and conditioning specialists. Working closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, they perform clinical examinations, develop and implement treatment plans, provide patient education and promote health, wellness and fitness.
Athletic trainers (LAT, AT-R, CSCS, PES) are licensed professionals specializing in prevention, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating sports injuries. Many of our experts are dual credentialed as certified strength and conditioning specialists and/or performance enhancement specialists. Working closely with physicians and other members of the healthcare team, they provide medical coverage for collegiate, high school, middle school athletic programs, assist in the Clinic, provide fitness consultations and coordinate and implement a performance enhancement program.
Physical therapist assistants (PTA) are licensed by the state to provide physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. They assist with starting plans of care set by a physical therapist. This includes instruction and supervision of exercises, performing modalities such as ultrasound, hot and cold pack, electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, and aquatic physical therapy, provide preoperative instructions including exercises and equipment and documentation of services provided.
Sport rehabilitation technicians are professionals who coordinate physical therapy services and ensure quality patient care. They receive on-the-job training to perform duties to assist the physical therapist. This may include chart preparation, guidance through an exercise program, clerical duties and maintaining a sanitary therapeutic environment.
Patient liaisons work as a team member to assist internal and external customers assuring accurate and complete registration, scheduling appointments, demographic information, insurance coverage and monitoring customer satisfaction.
