Pediatric Services

Gundersen Lutheran Eye Institute and our nine Regional Eye Clinics provides routine and specialty care for children of the La Crosse area and surrounding communities. Our pediatric eye care team includes ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, contact lens personnel, and opticians in our eyewear department. Our experienced optometrists screen for and treat most eye conditions of childhood:
  • Myopia (nearsighted)
  • Hyperopia (farsighted)
  • Strabismus (eye misalignment treated by glasses)
  • Amblyopia (poor vision in one or both eyes not corrected by glasses and usually not caused by other eye disease)
  • Routine eye exams for school assessments and glasses.
If additional specialty care is required, referrals are made to our two ophthalmologists. They can provide services in:
  • Strabismus (eye misalignment which can not be corrected by glasses and requires surgery)
  • Retinopathy of prematurity (delayed growth of the retina in premature babies)
  • Complicated cases of amblyopia
  • Rare eye conditions of children
Our pediatric eye care team provides quality and compassionate eye care for children at the Gundersen Lutheran Eye Institute and Regional Eye Clinics.
